I am having a wonderful time away from ice and snow with favourite cousins. In less than 48 hours, and after a long flight (clue), I feel like a new woman. My body is grateful for the chance to warm up, and my mind and heart are stimulated with the variety of new sights, sounds and wonderful people.
Travel is a major part of Dr. Shoma Morita’s legacy and Dr. Itami’s work with metastatic cancer patients. Dr. Itami, in particular, would take his patients far from home to explore the world. He observed that it stimulated the desire for life, laughter, learning new things, and friendship. And all of this, in turn, had a positive effect on their well-being.
I understand very well that travel isn’t always an obvious option; don’t you think it’s worth researching how to do it on a budget and, yes, with certain health limitations. Good advice I have received is not to close our own doors. Always check it out.

All of these photos, except one, were taken this morning on our walk. What a way to start the day with blue sky, fresh air, the heart-stopping wondrousness of being outside and the great company of one of my cousins. She took the yellow daisy-like flower in this group.

I thought it would be fun for you to guess where I am. Of course, if you actually know where I am, you can’t play the game. :-)) Just put your suggestions in the chat, and if you have been here, it would be lovely to know about your experience.
For me, the experience of being outdoors for five to six hours at a time, hearing new birds, seeing new sights, meeting new people, eating new food, and exploring new surroundings is not to be taken for granted. For those of you who can do so, I want to remind you not to wait with your travel plans until conditions are perfect. Sing while there’s voice left.
It has been a long time since I was away in the winter, and I am so grateful for the opportunity this year.

Most importantly, today is my granddaughter’s 2oth birthday. I am the proud Nana of this beautiful, kind, and accomplished young woman. I am convinced that with people like her and her friends, the world is in good hands, and I am filled with realistic optimism because of her generation. Love you always, dearest Sophie.

Dear Janice:Thank you for your good wishes. I was sure you knew where I was, but winter temporarily decreases my brain power and it has been a long stretch. It is a special once in a lifetime holiday, to say the least. See you at the end of the month. At first, I thought you might be in Cabo, Mexico but the volcanic formation now has me picturing you a long way from Cabo and far across the Atlantic! My guess is Madeira!
