Sweet Dreams
A note:
Hello dear people, I arrived in Calgary today and am ready for dreamland. I have a full slate while I am here – happily so, and will use tonight to get well-rested for the honour of offering programs to wonderful people in Alberta, thanks to Wellspring and Alberta Health. How lucky am I.
Thank you for continuing to keep me company as we make our way through ordinary and extraordinary days of life.
I must add that Calgary is also beautiful right now – lilacs and May trees galore, and different shapes and sizes of trees in a variety of greens. Perhaps May is simply my favourite month everywhere.
Here is a special poem from Julie Fehrenbacher that I will offer to you this evening.
The Most Important Thing
I am making a home inside myself. A shelter
of kindness where everything
is forgiven, everything allowed—a quiet patch
of sunlight to stretch out without hurry,
where all that has been banished
and buried is welcomed, spoken, listened to—released.
A fiercely friendly place I can claim as my very own.
I am throwing arms open
to the whole of myself—especially the fearful,
fault-finding, falling apart, unfinished parts, knowing
every seed and weed, every drop
of rain, has made the soil richer.
I will light a candle, pour a hot cup of tea, gather
around the warmth of my own blazing fire. I will howl
if I want to, knowing this flame can burn through
any perceived problem, any prescribed perfectionism,
any lying limitation, every heavy thing.
I am making a home inside myself
where grace blooms in grand and glorious
abundance, a shelter of kindness that grows
all the truest things.
I whisper hallelujah to the friendly
sky. Watch now as I burst into blossom.
Thanks to Rob for the banner photo and Gottfried for the lighthouse and roses. And a big hello to my readers in Alberta. I will get to meet with several of you over the next two weeks. Such a joy for me.
See you all next Wednesday. I am thinking of all of you who are suffering right now and my hope is that there will also be good news amidst it all. And I hope for the best of all possible outcomes as you make your way through difficult territory. Please ask for help before you are in dire straits. We are all here to help and be helped. All my best wishes, Trudy

Thank you dear Sabine. Keep scattering those smiles of yours all over the place. Warmly, Trudy
How lucky are Albertans to have you among them Trudy. Have a rich and enticing time. May is such a lovely time to be anywhere in this beautiful country. much love xoxo
Hi dear Janice: You are always so kind, splurging with your words. It is beautiful here in Calgary and the fabulous weather is a bonus. Off to Red Deer and Edmonton for the rest of the week. I am looking forward to the drive and the people. As always, Trudy
Wow! Thank you, Trudy. I love the poem; it fits beautifully with my Mindful Self-Compassion work and my ACA Loving Parent work. I’ll be sharing it. I’ve read her poetry before and it’s beautiful. I love hearing about the work you do–compassion and caring in action. And, as always, the photos are beautiful!
Blessings,
Wendy
Thank you dear Wendy. I am glad to hear that you liked the poem too. I hope you are enjoying these May days. Warmly, Trudy
