Computer Infirmary
This is a short hello from my phone as my computer went to the infirmary today. It is only one year old but suddenly began crashing mid sentence or in the middle of a zoom call. Not good, considering my upcoming schedule. And quite frankly it is fraught with all kinds of unhelpful scenarios in my mind.
However, we have a lovely old fashioned tech business in my neighbourhood run by two men who are smart, caring, thorough and dedicated problem solvers.
There is reason to be hopeful that my laptop will come home tomorrow. If not there are other options. And I will cross that bridge when I come to it.
In the meantime here is a charming tiny video of a robin taking a bath. This is a backyard robin on Gabriola Island, who showed up minutes after the bath was spring cleaned and filled with fresh water.
Spring is dragging its heels or maybe winter is refusing to give up, here in Ottawa. Yet, we have confidence that spring will bloom once again. I am perpetually reassured by the seasons.
Whenever we are up against uncertainty, which is pretty much everyday, it’s easy to paint a gloomy or a pollyanna picture, even though we don’t know what the future holds.
What we do know, is that hope is legit from our own experiences, and it doesn’t work alone. Change requires action. If we want flowers in the garden we plant seeds. If we want our bodies to get stronger we walk. If we come up against a limitation that we cannot influence we had best acknowledge that limitation and turn our attention to something we can do. That is the tricky part.
No matter how hard we try, we can’t lasso the future we desire but we can take steps to influence it.
Spring for me is a great reminder of predictability, not the perfection of a certain date. I see it ad that great desire for life after the dormancy of winter. And, right now, no matter what else is going on, I am delighted with the full throated song sparrows doing their best to wake us up and cheer us on in more ways than one.
Still, i hope my computer is fixable. If not there are other options. And I will cross that bridge when I come to it.
I also hope you spot lots of shoots and buds and birds this week. May you have many joyful moments.

PS if something looks a little strange when I publish this I can’t see it well on my phone and I will fix it later. 😊

The shoots and buds and birds are definitely helping bring cheer. I love the video of the bird you posted and your compassionate wishes for people who are struggling 🦋

Robins are chirping on our condo property, in Calgary. Robins’ breast bright red and chirp soothing.
Tulips popping up as the snow melts, only to snow again. Sunny days with strong winds. Progress towards warmer weather. All in good time.
To those having a difficult time, I find it helpful to break the day down, facing the morning only. By noon, can face the afternoon into evening, because morning was better than expected. We can do hard things with gentle support from others. Reach out. Write a few words of gratitude, have a cup of tea, watch nature from inside or outside, keeping our minds clear and maybe a Robin will stop by.🌹
I loved your tip, Marilyn, and included it in tonight’s blog post.Thank you so very much. Warmly, Trudy
