Christmas Eve/Day 2025
Greetings to you all, dear People
I have borrowed this quote used by Susan Cain (author of The Quiet Life)
May you be surrounded by friends and family, and if this is not your lot, may the blessings find you in your solitude.
-Leonard Cohen
I will see you all here next week. I hope you enjoy this week between Christmas Day and the New Year. It is a favourite time of mine because I feel free to moodle. Actually, I just found a great definition for moodling thanks to Oliver Burkeman’s recent newsletter, The Imperfectionist. I had posted it to my family but quite sure I didn’t post it here.
The difference is that this author calls it magic rather than moodling.
“Magic: GET OUT NOW.
Not just outside, but beyond the trap of the programmed electronic age so gently closing around so many people at the end of our century. Go outside, move deliberately, then relax, slow down, look around. Do not jog. Do not run. Forget about blood pressure and arthritis, cardiovascular rejuvena- tion and weight reduction. Instead pay attention to everything that abuts the rural road, the city street, the suburban boulevard. Walk. Stroll. Saunter.” John Stilgoe
This will be a big part of my next few days with a movie matinee thrown in.
I deeply appreciate you reading my blog and sending me such lovely emails and comments. My wish is that you have access to all that you need, including the internal terrain of resilience, eudaimonia, joy and the company of lively and loving others. Warmly, and with gratitude, Trudy

Merry Christmas to you, Trudy! Your blog sinks into my mind. It is going to be merry but busy through new year days, still I will enjoy. I find myself seekng eudaimonia rather than bright joy.
Thank you for this note dear Yoshie. Eudaimonia is a top favourite word of mine, or rather the meaning. It is so much more relatable, as a human being, than the quest for happiness. Talk soon. Best wishes, Trudy
Special Christmas blessings to you Trudy. I went for a late day walk along the river to contemplate the beauty and my blessings – food for my soul (and chocolate at home!) Trust we can walk together soon. I’ll be in touch. love Jan
Thank you for your kind note dear Janice. What a beautiful 1st day of the New Year. Big hugs, Trudy
Merry Christmas Trudy, and, yes, i hope for a moodling week.
I hope you had a moodling week dear Jean. Thank you for your kind notes. As always, Trudy
Thank you so much, Trudy, that you keep on with your posts even on Christmas eve:-)
Also to you Merry Christmas, and may we all stay healthy, happy and sane.
Big hug
Sabine
With appreciation for your encouraging words and good wishes, dear Sabine. May you have a lovely start to our brand new year. Everyday is brand new and yet there is something special about the 1st of each new year. Big hug back to you. Trudy
